Hi Gordon,

Re: you have pushed the meaning of cynicism to the level...

Isn't this all the fashion? Thinking "outside the box".

It was indeed meant as a mind expanding exercise. But in a world in which we can have friends of George Bush working actively on schemes like the Death Star, Ricochet and Get Shorty to defraud billions of dollars from a hapless state, where exactly are the limits to cynicism? I don't think they have been reached yet. And I certainly don't believe that fair play is more important to George Bush than winning. In his social set, winning is everything. Even, an often especially, if it involves cheating. <wink>

BTW, I enjoyed your use of the language... intellectual dandyism has a great ring of truth about it. <smile>

"CYNIC, n.
A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be. Hence the custom among the Scythians of plucking out a cynic's eyes to improve his vision."

--Ambrose Bierce - The Devil's Dictionary

Be it Sigh or Be it Scythe, that is the question.

Cheers, Ray :)
