It's not the 70% of the proven reserves that's the number to consider, it's the length of time it would take to cause change, times the absorption rate, for all such terrorist oil producers. We already know the world lets us take over if need be. To take another productive route would gain the moral high ground, as well as make more sense and gain worldwide support.

It would take less than a year to prove our point, imo.

Probably a few months, if other developed countries joined in. Maybe a few weeks, after an announcement by some as-yet-undiscovered leadership here in the US.

You said: "Stupid to declare them an enemy".

Sorry, I don't see how anyone can come to the conclusion that it's stupid to declare an enemy as an enemy. We are "at war" here, with people who support terrorists who kill and threaten American citizens, you and me.

There's no question here. This is personal. It's black and white. You either help terrorists and say "oh, well I'm a friggin' slave, beat me, kill me, I'll do whatever you say", or you say "f* you and the hijacked airline you rode in on".

What kind of American would knowingly buy petroleum from a terrorist-supporting country?

Answer: not many. If they had any option, at all.

It is not a price issue.
It is a policy issue.
It is a leadership issue, finally.
