Really? You can find your kids? That's great, but I don't think my 9 year old would necessarily be able to tell me where she is if she was lost Rick, much less my 6 year old, or my 3 year old (who will be wearing an inconspicuous location monitor as soon as they are available).

Credit cards are easier... but you still have to carry a wallet, and a phone. Think for a second Rick, if you are carrying a phone anyway, it would eliminate the need to stick a wallet in your back pocket.

Talking with people in a tire replacement waiting room? Please.... I'll always be able to count on having a nice conversationalist in the room with me, and not a screaming kid or a recently released convict...

Bring a book? Why when I can download one on my phone/pda, and then I don't have to lug a book with me? If you're worried about being able to read the screen, hit the magnify button and you'll have the large type Reader's Digest version....

Read a paper on a bus? Why when I can catch up on the news on my phone, or watch clips of my favorite sports team win their latest game? Most free papers are 90% ads, and little news anyway...

Unlike yourself Rick, the majority of people in this nation pay for Cable/Satellite TV despite the availability of rabbit ears and broadcast TV, they have a cellphone despite the availability of land lines, and they have a car despite the ability to walk. Amazing that people actually pay for those things... they must see some value in them over and above spending their nights in the library or sitting in front of the fire watching their toenails grow.

Who needs to flip the waitress a credit card? She might run a second copy and charge stuff on the internet using your number when she gets home (has happened to me)... not to mention the fact that I have to wait for her to show up with the ticket, or flag her down and tell her we're ready, or if the service is slow, figure out if she's going to get a tip or not. I'd much rather type a number into my phone, see the total bill, hit accept and walk out.
