for the most of it, that Herem held, and I believe it held back that nation advance for quite some time.

Interesting argument, with which I am not familar.

But you should realize that you are playing into the hands of those who argue that "the Jews control everything."

I think these days most agree with Max Weber that Protestant regions had multiple advantages over Catholic regions with respect to capitalism.

Anna Luxemburg was a real problem for Hitler, she was both a Jew and a communist (g).

Hm, Rosa Luxemburg, Anne Frank, ok, but who is Anna Luxemburg?

I know another famous example of a Jew who joined communists to oppose Hitler: Marcel Reich-Ranicki. He is one of the few survivors of the Warsaw Ghetto who later became a reviewer of German literature at the FAZ. He's still alive, very popular and considered to be the "pope of literature review", with a stand-alone TV show.

He has written a great autobiography, "Mein Leben" (My Life)

She would, for both reasons cited above, not to mention being a woman out of kitchen ;-) However, IIRC, when she died shortly after WWI during the failed communist uprisings all over Germany, the Austrian clown was still a corporal in an army hospital.

they should have been better prepared as a "Kulturish" nation to see through the demagoguery, they failed, Europe paid the price.

Isn't it amazing how some folks out there make the same argument as they stood in amazement when Sharon became Prime Minister??

Now, even I won't ever state that Sharon is comparable to Hitler.. But it suggests that even Israelis who consider themselves "enlightened" can find themselves thrust into making reactionary political decisions when faced with what they perceive as a threat to their personal safety.

The point being that the Western democracies are just as responsible for the rise of Hitler as the German people. Back a proud people into a corner and they will often sacrifice their freedoms for their pride..

Look at how the average American is willing to sacrifice their once treasured privacy in the interest of fighting this war...

We'd all like to think we're immune from such a scenario as occurred in Germany.. But every culture has it's breaking point.
