To All Softees: Here is a big win:

I believe Verizon is the biggest. They already have a relationship with NXTL (which is a TDMA based carrier) which is number 5. MSFT is bringing Windows to all platforms from gaming consoles to desktops to ATM's to servers to cell phones. If it interacts it will be MSFT!

Msn, Verizon To Bring Net, Windows To Cell Phones

May 23, 2002 03:35:19 (ET)

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT,Trade) and Verizon Wireless have formed a broad alliance to bring services and content from the Microsoft Network, including instant messaging, to Verizon's cell phone subscribers, the companies said on Thursday.

Over the longer term, both sides plan to co-develop smart phones, Pocket PCs and other mobile devices that run Windows, as well as wireless applications for corporations using the .NET Web services platform, they said.

More immediately, Verizon customers in the United States with Web-enabled cell phones will be able to subscribe to MSN for a fee ranging from $6.95 per month to $12.95, depending on how many alerts are sent to the subscriber's phone.

HELP NETWORKING- JFD I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 4 port wireless router a Linksys WPC11 wireless nework card in my laptop.
The Road Runner comes out of the wall and goes into the Road Runner Cable Modem and then from there to the BEFW and from there to the desktop.

My laptop then has 11Mbps wireless access to the internet and I can wander around the ground of our apartment block and by the pool and stay online at 11Mbps. It is really incredible.

BUT I would like to be able to "see" my laptops drive on the Desktop and vice versa ie I would like them to be able to 'Network' mainly to share and transfer files to keep them synchronized etc. XP on both computers.

So I spoke to Linksys and they got me up and running on the wireless internet access but they won't help with networking. They referred me to wown.com. Great site but networking is very difficult and I can't get it to work.

Any one got any ideas?

Best,

L
