8:40AM: The futures are pointing to a lower open. Weighing on the futures (especially Nasdaq 100) is a call out of Goldman Sachs downgrading the semi equipment sector and a number of individual names. The firm would wait on the sidelines until a clearer end-demand picture emerges....
Q1 GDP was just released and revised down slightly to 5.6% from 5.8%; this was below the 6.0% consensus but is of little consequence and will have no market impact. Also, the first look at the government's measure of corporate profits revealed 0.9% qtr/qtr growth in Q1, a huge improvement from the 10.6% Q4 decline, though also not a market-mover given that this report comes well after individual company reports for Q1....New Home Sales report due at 10 ET.....Overseas, the European markets were higher while Asian stocks were mixed.....Current indications: S&P 500 futures are -2.00, or 2 pts below fair value. Nasdaq 100 is -17.5, or 16.5 pts below fair value. Nas 100 PMI -8.18.
