I know what you mean, but the quiet investigation had its chance.
The administration blew it by not cooperating, now are under suspicion of hiding facts etc. It would have happened to any administration that had done the same. But this one has a lot of explaining to do now, and have a counter-productive defensive posture.

The profiling issue is a non-issue, imo. As much flap as there is, no one really cares, except certain special-interest groups, and they get airplay, but not much sympathy.

Look, we're are either at war, or something close to it. We should act like it, especially if our civil rights are being suspended. Things like trading with the enemy, inviting Saudis "down to the ranch" for hugs and kisses, taking lectures and insults from those who finance killing of American civilians, don't make sense.

It is strange to see the kind of out-of-control nonsense, that still leaves Americans vulnerable!

This administration isn't demonstrating even basic political common sense. If you tell the American people, "sorry, folks, we're screwed, we're going to have more of the same, and even worse, and there's nothing anyone can do about it".... come on. What's going to be the reaction? An investigation !!

We're the "can-do" country, right? You can't be a political leader by telling Americans there's no way to solve this problem. And, after a while, you certainly can't say everything is all right, with a disaster like this, and not roll some heads, do a hell of a lot of explaining.
