re: i have no idea why, but virus writers never attack [netscape] messenger. Same here. The virus writers aim for the largest target and the target has been studied to identify its security holes. I doubt Messenger really has any fewer security problems, they just are not being sought. This is definitely an area where software diversity provides real value so it is no longer simply a support the underdog response. Of course, this support is pretty limited when it is free software. <g> I briefly tried Eudora but it wasn't comfortable. Probably should give it a another run as I didn't explore enough to discover how to work through the edges that were rough for me but likely have solutions. More on-topic - PC Magazine picked NAV again (five years in a row?) for best personal virus protection. -PT
