OTOH, I expect a 0.09µ Prescott will close that gap in performance on 32 bit applications vs. the Hammer desktops if it's truly ready by mid '03.

I expect Prescott to extend NorthWoods performance lead vrs Hammer.

Petz,

So I don't see any version of x86-64 available from Intel until 2004, probably first for Xeon Prescott and later for desktop.

Xeon Prescott? Do you think that they would have different core? It seems to me that there is a substantial extension of the core necessary to support 64bit. So I doubt that if this change was made to the core, it would still be called Prescott.

Does anybody have a good / recent roadmap of Intel's x86 chips? I would like to know what the next major revision of x86 core is (after Prescott).
