Ted
that is is the funniest peace of reporting that I have ever read:

"Bush reassured European allies Washington remained a friend despite major differences over Iraq, trade and the environment"

we need reassurance that European allies are still our allies and that goes for brits too

"He said disagreements should not get in the way of broader common goals like fighting terrorism, bringing peace to the Middle East or helping solve the AIDS crisis in Africa."

Since when fighting terrorism is a common goal now. Europe opposes US war against terrorism.

"Bush will also make his case for aggressively fighting terrorism in talks in coming days with Putin"

If Bush would not manage to screw this one up by calling Chechen rebels as freedom fighters we might gain a real ally in fighting terrorism
