I am sure there were plenty of analysts trying to ask questions, and the phone company's systems wasn't working properly. SUN is the only hardware event this afternoon. Just goes to show you the telcos should increase capital spending....

I had long suspected that. But the recent NY investigation indicated that the analysts may well have their opinions written for them by their investment banking clients. Note the aggressiveness with which Merrill opposed the complete delinking of their research and investment divisions. How would analysts have an opinion then? For example, Steve Milunovich. If you don't know which side your bread is buttered on, you may lose both the bread and the butter. Then, how could you afford to call in for the Sun update from the Hamptons?
