<We are really still in the embryo days of a bubble, and no Maurice, it is not too late to get on the magic carpet ride.>

Jay, I haven't done my gold rant yet, but yes, if they are going to shrink the measuring stick by 50%, then gold will double [and stay there]. However, so will everything else which is measured in shrunken dollars. I am NOT comfortable holding my damn US$ [have been waiting for a blip down in the Kiwi$ but it's zoomed away from me in a couple of weeks]. I might have to retreat quickly back to the safety of CDMA and cyberspace.

Meanwhile, okay, I'll go and look at some gold coins! It would be fun if nothing else. [Hmmm, first signs of a drug addict].

Bubble, no doubt, but really early days.

Olympic bubble - another 6 years to go. Post-Olympic bust in Sydney only lasted one year. Not very severe.

f you were Warren all-you-can-eat, what would you be wanting to do about protecting value of wealth?

I'm was looking at gold stocks at the top of the current e-wave. I was thinking to put my Mom's US account about 30-40% into gold stocks. But now gold seems to be going up together with stocks..... the pattern I worked out is breaking down.

My main strategy has been Aussie Dollars. These are the clown results currently:

USD Return Portfolio SPX NDX
May 9.31% 1.87% 0.76%
YTD -8.22% -4.44% -18.41%
Since 1 Oct 2001 23.54% 5.39% 10.13%

Yes I'm down on the year. Should have bought gold stocks :) But doing fantastically against the NDX benchmark....

In the meantime I just heard today that a check is on its way for some of our recovered real estate in Halberstadt. The lawyer says this isn't the main property but something else he found while looking around. I visited Halberstadt in 1998. Dismal scene of our derelict house in the rain and cold (it was mid-summer in Eastern Germany). Been six years since this case started and 64 years since the property was lost. I don't like real estate investments :)
