I think todays action in barrick is clearly demonstrating the markets perception of abx's vulnerability to a rising pog. I believe these concerns may become increasing evident if gold should continue to move beyond 325.00 an ounce. With the complexities of the derivative market, I do not think anyone can or will make a determination that barrick is without risk in a rising gold market. Whatever, languague is evident in their financial statements, does not fully explain the fine print in the underlying derivative contracts. the true exposure of the derivative will only become apparent when and if the markets turn against them.
