Jozef,

Re: "It looks like it will be up to the CPU (and Fab) guys to deliver."

Have to agree with you on this one ... Seems that AMD has had a "problem"
so far. Are you "confident" that this has been "fixed" ... If so, what was the "solution" ??!!

Make It So,
Yousef

RE:"I have to say I am impressed by stories about the state of Hammer support infrastructure. It looks like it will be up to the CPU (and Fab) guys to deliver. The obstacle that limited Athlon success (infrastructure) will be ready this time."

There is something very fishy going on. Since when does a Taiwan chipset maker introduce a chipset 6 months before the release of a new AMD chip? And others to follow.
The Athlon was lauched in June with no motherboards and only one chipset from AMD. By August of that year only FIC offered a motherboard. By fall there were MSI and Asus boards but Asus wouldn't even admit it and it was said they shiped them in brown paper bags(sic)so Intel wouldn't find out. Kind of like those fans who were shamed to be a a Saints game and wore brown paper bags over their heads...

So supposedly now we have motherboard makers falling all over themselves making boards for the opteron and at least 4-5 chipset makers...all this and the chip is at least 6 months from introduction. On top of that, AMD can't get .13u in production and have to yet turn a trick called SOI...I sure hope there is a chip when the time comes.

Either .13u is a big problem for AMD like Elmer suggests or AMD has shifted all resources to Hammer...or maybe AMD has turned Athlon .13u over to UMC...and with what .13u they have running now on Athlon is going to mobile chips.

Wouldn't be the first time AMD shifted midstream...
