But, bashing democrats is so much fun!

I am being sarcastic, of the Democrats. Ever notice how they always go around accusing Republicans of hating all democrats.

There is never an iota of evidence to support their inane accusations. Most Republicans are pretty mellow.

But the real hacks, the Democrat policy makers, they get such a big delight out of bashing Republicans. It is their sole reason for being, I think. Along with scaring old folks.

Anyway - supporting documentation:

--

Remember: send and delete are different keys -- Social Security is shaping up as a major issue for the fall 2002 campaign. Democrats have been busy hammering the GOP for their efforts to inject the option of IRA-like investments into the program, alleging it could bankrupt the system. Republicans have countered that the Democrats are engaged in rhetoric designed to scare seniors for political gain -- and now they believe that documents made public Wednesday show they're right.

In late March, high-level staffers in the office of Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, drafted an op-ed on the issue and commenced an internal debate on its language and accuracy via e-mail.

According to the documents made public by the GOP, Kaptur Washington staff member Steve Katich sent via e-mail the draft to colleagues asking, "Does the rhetoric match the facts here?" Kaptur senior legislative aide Julie Little replied, "In response to your question: not entirely factually accurate. Here is my first pass," adding, in a comment to another staffer, "Sue, I hope this is not under consideration for the pull out. Talk about scaring seniors -- this may be a little over the top. But it is sooo fun to bash Republicans.:)."

Kaptur staff is brushing the whole thing off, pointing to the fact that the op-ed in question was never printed and that such debates occur frequently. The Republicans counter that the staff comments make it plain that the Democrats are engaged in a deliberate campaign to try to scare senior citizens as part of their strategy to win back the House in the fall and it does not appear likely they will let this drop as quickly as the Democrats might wish.
