I'm just going by the fact that he resigned, in addition to the reports of people who interviewed him.

That says it was something major, not a fuss about profiling, but a major official blockage of an investigation he felt was important.

You do know, of course, that a law enforcement officer tracking particular group like he was with named individuals can creatively come up with all kinds of reasons for stopping, arresting or otherwise pursuing that person, regardless of any profiling laws?

We'll only know additional facts with an investigation.
