This may surprise you, but I agree with that statement. Of course, Limbaugh only was able to do his schtick after the Fairness Doctrine was jettisoned.

Re: NPR: It is my experience that many people listen to NPR and nothing else. Every once in a while I'll ask someone if they ever listen to Glenn Beck or Michael Savage on AM hate radio, and he or she says, "No. Never heard 'em. All I listen to is NPR."

I don't think right-wing rage radio shapes public opinion. Its main purpose is to keep the "faithful" on course, not to win new converts.

Remember, only 19 percent of the American public listens to radio period. In my case, the majority of my radio time is spent listening to baseball games. (I wonder if the Mariners vs. the A's qualifies as "talk radio"?)
