Hi Ork,

That is exactly right. As the low cost manufacturer they have grown to the top three and many (remember TI) have had their head handed to them.

When you run excess capacity out of business thru price loss leaders - you end up being the 800 pound gorilla with pricing capabilities and the most market share.

Do not confuse the aggressive wins that Micron has achieved with the weak position of AMD - losing money and market share.

Time will show Micron to be the most efficient maker of memory. They have had a long battle running government sponsored industry (South Korea - Hyundai /Hynex) to the oint of bloated debt trying to buy market share at a loss).Final capitulation has resulted in bankruptcy courts writing off Billions and the governments finally saying "UNCLE".

South Korea is the worst. They've had the head handed to them in autos Hyundai's bankruptcy and GM buying Daewoo just this last month.

In each case they've barfed up billions of debt forgiveness - after the market proved artificial subsidy and poor quality don't add up to global leadership.

Bob

Micron is a debt free relentlessly efficient manufacturer that takes contiuous improvement to a lifestyle.

Disclosure -I own no Micron - I just know of their engineering genius.
