Hi Alastair,

I believe the price run-up was the result of a perception that Micron had negotiated a purchase of Hynex.

At that point, the predatory pricing would be discontinued. This was the result of a widely perceived notion that excess capacity would be curtailed.

When the board of directors misbehaved and refused to bail out the bond holders of the companies debt - Micron turned up the heat and is administering an additional marketplace lesson of below cost bleeding. When in debt - which Micron is not(the most efficient business model) AND you have the most efficient manufacturing process- your competition which has neither - well lets just say their minds shall soon follow.

Bob

It is indeed a very cut-throat business.
Only the strong survive.
The market place proves all- and yes some do control/manipulate the market.
