if you gonna bet the farm bet it on a new generation chip that scales rather than some fancy SOI process? Really? No kidding...? lol Did it ever occur to you that AMD has limited resources going up against a company with virtually unlimited resources? Limited design resources. Limited process development resources. Limited manufacturing resources. Limited financial resources. Remember the goal has always been to harm Intel, not to build shareholder value. If AMD was going to continue their assault on Intel then they had to make some desperate choices. Radical new design on a radical new unproven process(SOI) using an unproven technique (lowK). This was their only hope if Jerry's Jehad was to stay alive. They made their choice and now they have to live with it... I mean add engineers and work 'em overtime...24/7 if you have too... You ever tried to hire people who can make an immediate impact in this field? Obviously not. EP
