During the 4th quarter earnings conference in mid January, AMD stated that first silicon was "imminent". AMD may have good engineers but people would not be playing games on the platform in mid-May of the first silicon was not until end January. My interpretation was that Jerry was talking about the first silicon that would be shipped to OEMs not first silicon. Jerry's use of terminology was probably deliberately intended to misdirect. AMD generally sandbag this close to product release. Remember what a surprise it was when Athlon was released.
