I just had coffee with a guy who's son works on highway projects. He worked 4 hours today so it's figured at 8 hours. Well he actually worked for 2 hours but he was signed in for 4 hours. Now those 8 hours are at triple time because it's the day before a holiday weekend. He makes $35 per hour plus benefits. The kid made $840 for two hours work and two hours farting around. $420 per hour of work. He does have a real important job though, he's a union cone picker upper. Yep, for $420 per hour he picks up road cones and hands them to the $420 per hour union cone stacker who loads them on the truck with the union driver who gets $420 per hour to idle down the road. $2,520 to pick up 2 miles of union cones.
