MSI, One thing to help clarify my position. I started voting in 1956, and became actively involved in politics in 1960. My opinions are not formed be reading books, newspapers, and until 2 years ago, I didn't even know what a URL was. I saw what happened with my own eyes, and did not depend on another to see for me, while adding his own spin to the reporting like Dan Rather is so adept at doing.

Reagan's "debt" won the cold war at a lower price in lives, and dollars, than a hot war would have. It was worth the price unless you wish to be doing business in rubles.

The desiccation of the military, such as was done be the Clinton administration, is the same situation that caused the fall of the Roman Empire, and sent the world into the dark ages. The world looks the the US to protect them from every imagined threat, which BTW I am opposed to. I say let them stew in their own juice and keep our military, and dollars, out of it, but that seems to be out of the question. If we just turned the Israelis loose, there would be no Palestinian problem.

When militant terrorists attack American soil though, it is time to teach them a lesson, not matter the cost, to prevent it from ever happening again, even if it requires the annihilation of their countries. That is not Imperialism. Just self defense.

BTW, at my age, I haven't been on any base for a long time. The last weapon I used was an M-1 Garand. :^))
