"Give it up." Well you've stolen most of my thunder with your illusion to Bloom's taxonomy of knowing.

This is an interesting view of the levels of knowledge. As a teacher teacher years ago, of course I covered the subject and its importance in guiding students to know and understand information.

The question, however, is do we actually teach or train others to be more critical in the process.

I will fall back here on some of my earlier postings that the need to know is linked to a need to grow. Big subject, but my POV is that much of our formal public education effort beyond the basics, produces a disincentive in this direction.
