Freeus,

Franco was the most unique outfit. They did not mine gold,so they had almost no liabilities nor debt. They bought royalties(merchant bankers) from potential gold resources THEY identified, then vended the properties to the likes of Barrick,Newmont, etc. to mine.

So,they had the cashflow with almost no expenses,no liabilities and no debt. The operators had all the expenses and liabilities. The man that ran the joint was Pierre Lasonnde. It's as simple as this. If Pierre said there was gold under the ground, count on it. I never knew of him to be wrong, ever. Not once.

Barrick probably wouldn't still even be a functioning company if not for all the properties vended to them by FN in the Carlin Trend.

I think highly of Harmony's business plan and recent results. But,I would sell it all tomorrow if FN was available. Harmony has liabilities. I do think Harmony is the best gold now since FN died and went to NEM heaven.
