Right. The question here is a bit different. We can teach and imbue students with knowledge on various levels, we can even force them to think critically at various levels. Have we then trained them to advance to higher levels of critical thinking or have we simply imparted knowledge at different levels and left the students where we found them otherwise?

In other words, is critical thinking ability like IQ, a static measure? We know that brilliant people can waste their ability to the point of entering adulthood ill equiped in the area of general knowledge. Is it likewise with critical thinking ability, or not? Neocon suggested that it may be more a measure of ability than a matter of effort. What think ye?
