If by inflation we both mean a general increase in prices, I think it's also true that an increase in population without an increase in productivity will raise prices because of competing demands for goods. And Europe did experience a population boom after the Black Death was over.

But I am not arguing with you, just pointing out additional factors.

I don't dispute the monetarist point of view, I just think it's not an either-or situation.

The inflation was not just in Spain, by the way, it was all over Europe.
