YES, this is CORRECT when applied to a specific design (like, say DasHumper). AMD also would have a process development vehicle like an SRAM along with device reliability physics structures. Then as you point out Elmer, there is a very good likelihood that there were also additional test chips to qualify IP and perhaps for package qualification.

Exactly. I have seen many "test chips" to evaluate new circuitry and structures but nobody called those "First Silicon" because they weren't potential products. If Jerry said "First Silicon" was imminent in Q1 then we should rely on Jerry's reputation for honor and integrity. He's right up there with Muhatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
