Correct me if I've forgotten something, but Europe hasn't been attacked by Arabs since they kicked their butts in the 15th century. Um, are you forgetting the Ottomans? Not Arab, but Muslim and the heir to the Arab states. The last siege of Vienna was lifted in 1685. And the Balkans stayed Ottoman far longer than that.

So if it's our objective is anything other than to keep the Middle East under a defacto occupation, we historically have nothing to fear from Arab states attacking us I was not referring to being attacked by Arab states, we could brush that aside in minutes. What we have to fear is Terrorists who have and will again attack us, feeling that we are cowards who will not retaliate. This was Ben Laden's feeling about us, he stated so publicly. We got our of Lebanon and Somilia when we lost men, with our tail between our legs. We lobbed missiles at suspected Terrorist camps and installations in response to attacks on us, instead of going in and rooting them out. Now that we have wiped them out in Afghanistan, the Arabs have a little more fear of us, but we still have a long way to go to make them respect us. With their culture, fear and respect go hand in hand. They will never like us, trying to make them like us should not be our goal. Leave that to the Missionaries.
