So is it possible that implementing .13u on K7 is could be more difficult than on K8?

Mature designs are used as test vehicles for new processes. K7 I would think is easy on .13 compared to K8, but I've seem problems with shrinks. See below, holds true for shrinks also. Remember all the data about how your layer works is based on .18, when your shrink, it's like starting over again. Maybe now you have reticle issue. Sometimes it goes smooth, reguardless it's a resource drain because of the "what if"

K8 will be a new ballgame with new issues. You need several new recipes and could have many unknowns. Some defects only show up at certain geometric structures. You can't predict these type of defects until you find out there is a problem in yield and it needs to be fixed.
