I noticed the volume on the NDX was down significantly on Friday @ 653,121,400. Daily volume has not been this low since January 2nd. I'm not sure if this is just a reflection of the extended holiday some traders took.

If there is too much bearishness on the near term why were the equity P/C ratios so low last week?

NV, I agree. We seem to have a consensus that we will sell off to or slightly breach the Sept. low and bottom in late June.

I believe that the commercial hedgers are now net long the NDX but still quite net short the S&P. However, I believe that they are well off their 90K+ net short position down to around 75K net short. I believe that if they get down to less than 65K net short, it may bode well for a rally. I would like to see them get a bit less net short than that but they do not need to be net long. I don't think they got much less than 40K net short at the Sept. lows.
