Dump the cable and get a satellite system, it's far superior to cable and costs less... I suggest Direct TV... the newer receivers also come with TiVo built in, a digital VCR, so you can also dump your VCR recorder.....

I vote DISH Network.

I sell their system in three locations. Direct equipment breaks down more often. Dish has a TIVO like system. The receiver records up to 35 hours of television digitally and will ZAP the commercials. It has DOLBY sound and surround theatre sound. With a large screen like being in a theatre. They buy the cost down to $99. They call it DishPVR. Go to: dishnetwork.com

Dish gives you two receivers and the install for free with the first three months at no cost when you sign up on the DHP plan. It can be confusing but I have looked at all and Dish imo is the best. They do not have the NFL package like Direct.

For internet service look for a WISP in your area. Synchronous speeds and CHEAP! Lots of small wisp's around providing multiple computer hookups with speeds up to t-1 if you pay for it. I know, I provide this service in our area. Look on this site for one in your area. If you have any questions feel free to IM me. bbwexchange.com

We convert DSL users because our QOS is better and people hate the local ILEC's. Look at our pricing crimsonwireless.com

Good luck.

You should be able to record programs with any 80 to 100 buck VCR with your existing cable setup. It's just a question of making sure that the input and output wires are feeding the signal through your system properly.

>>Ever since I have had cable tv I have not been able to record programs.

It must be how your VCR is hooked up with the cable?...
