Michael,

Re: I believe Bush and Cheney are people of character, and wouldn't make up claims regarding terrorist threats.

You may be a man of blind faith. I base my judgement on facts.

Fact: GWB engaged in insider trading when he was an executive at Harken Energy and then lied about his failure to file a Rule 144 notice in a timely fashion. Enriching himself while public investors (people like you and me) got left holding an empty bag.

Fact: Dick Cheney (as CEO of Halliburton) knowing traded with the enemy, i.e. Iraq, Iran and Libya, while the U.S. government has trade sanctions in place. And now he hypocritically plans to militarily attack his customers.

Neither of these hombres malvados are men of honor. Both appear to value greed above patriotism or integrity and fair play.

Please comment on the Mencken's quote about the practical use of terrorizing the public. Didn't Mencken nail Dubya and Dick's modus operandi in that timeless quote from over 70 years ago? Isn't government's role, i.e. scaring the public with false and hysterical claims, what we have lived with in this country since our birth? And all for the sake of astonishly wasteful and bloated budgets for the nation's military-industrial-economic lifeblood-sucking*** vampire. Don't you agree?
