but last week, there were rumors on the street that INTC is cutting further this year's capex to $4.5 B, it was mentioned on this thread, by someone, maybe ork?

There were rumors the Morgan Stanley was publishing a report lowering 03 cap ex estimates. They denied it but after the close came out with a report talking about 03 cap ex and for now they were keeping 03 estimates the same (I forgot what the cur est is, maybe 5.5B). However, I think the talked about risks to it coming in lower. That was the beginning of the weakness last week. The real weakness came friday, when goldman downgraded the sector talking about a need to digest the taiwan orders and what happens if we don't get an IT pickup later this year.
