I also agree with this scenario as being a likely one. Markets will send people selling to protect profits and they all try to get out the door at the same time.

Joan, I go back and forth on that scenario just simply because there seems to be a crowd on both sides of the door. ie. the huge short positions in gold and the recent run up in the gold producers. I can't help thinking that this latest rise had elements of a short squeeze and catching the train mania. The collapse back is likely and the best thing that could happen....but how nervous are those holding huge short positions and how subject are they to panic buying? I wonder after 20 years how complacent they are. Couple this with a nervousness about the dollar and nukes and it's too close to call.
