Yes, I use NAV and like it. So far, it hasn't found any viruses in e-mail attachments. Knock on wood.

Best wishes,

I2

Bob,

NAV seems to do a decent job and has blocked a number of viruses for me. Until a few weeks ago, I was using the "LiveUpdate" feature of NAV2002, but was concerned that it was only updated once or twice a week. Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but it takes a lot longer to clean up the mess than to make it. I found the "Intelligent Updater" feature on the Symantec site and this is updated almost daily.

Go to (I made this a shortcut on my desktop):
securityresponse.symantec.com and you can compare the dates of the virus definitions and then click on "Download Virus Definitions (Intelligent Updater Only)" halfway down the page. Halfway down on the page that opens, select the version you need (for me it's the first one) and click on "Download Updates". This goes to the next page and the first download file is the complete most current virus definitions... even if "LiveUpdate" doesn't have them yet. Save it to the desktop, close down the internet connection and programs and double click on the icon and it auto downloads and updates the NAV definitions. The desktop icon can then be deleted.

Just thought I'd stick in my two cents for those like me who didn't know "Intelligent Updater" even existed.

BTW... tc... still can't find anyone who knows how to eliminate that 16 bit error I get in WIN 2000 Pro.

Best to all and thanks for the help and time everyone so willingly gives. Perhaps if the rest of the world was like this forum, we'd all be a a lot happier!!

Best always,

Marty
