Jon--that's precisely the issue. If Q were priced on forward looking earnings, the same way that other key stocks in their respective sectors are (like Coca Cola), the stock price would be much higher. A reasonable valuation based on forward looking earnings would be at least double the present price.

**(But, everyone knows KO is a "great" growth story ...)**

not me. i'm not sure ko will grow 4% a year. i MIGHT get interested at a 5 pe ratio.

when qcom was at $200, what were 2 year out eps projections? take a hit of some crack and the number will appear self evident. ;-)

i'm not sure qcom will be making that much more money 2 years out. don't trust their estimates b/c 3 years ago they were touting eps much greater than this to support their high price tag.

i'm not necessarily down on qcom, i'm juts saying using management's selective disclosure as "gospel" is naive.

personally, qcom looks like a decent risk right here. i wouldn't load the truck, but some reasonable exposure on high risk money is probably a good bet. this is from a guy that had a "sell this mf as fast as possible" rating in the mid to high $100s.

coke has one KEY advantage over qcom (as well as some disadvantages). it is much more difficult to render coke obsolete than to render qcom's technology obsolete. whether that matters in the end, i don't know. but i will tell you that coke is an overpriced fluff of a stock, imho.

just proof that the bubble still hasn't gone away... it just let some air out.
