What disturbs me is knowing that every time I use something derived from petroleum I am helping to fill the coffers with $ that are used to motivate suicide bombers.

When the US government is serious about influencing the Saudi's, Iran & Iraq they will do more than help Russia increase its limited petro capabilities. When Bush stands up and says the best way to screw our enemies is conserve fuel oil we could really catch their attention.

A combination of increased non OPEC production and major incentives to reduce consumption would be enough to scare the hell out of SA, Iran & maybe Iraq.

Perhaps this motivation will occur after a future attack more heinous than the WTC. The 3,000 dead is a drop in the bucket compared to what could have happened. Anyone know how many school kids tour the WTC every week? I know my kids went from NJ.

Of course people would have to limit use of Humvees, Suburbans, etc. And maybe some votes would be lost from the Auto industry. But the individual citizen needs to know they can do their part to fight the Islamists, and maybe they can do that best by conserving fuel.
