If, as both we and the terrorists claim, terrorism continues as long as the US is militarily and economically involved in age-old blood feuds around the world, isn't it reasonable to consider pulling out of those feuds, as part of our national security campaign? You are, instead, posing a world in which through added force, the US abandons diplomace and destroys one side or the other in these feuds, and hopes not too many millions are left that spawn residual suicide attacks. That's the definition of "success" that I find hard to accept.
