You are equating the terrorist threat with Hitler's Germany, is that a valid comparison? As far as having sponsored Israel for decades, we have also protected Saudi Arabia, and sponsored other states. That's no reason to continue, if it is a failed policy. My "lack of appreciation for the true state of affairs" as a mortal threat -- it isn't the appreciation that's the threat, it's the Arabs. Eventually, they will have to get along. You are proposing permanent military support, actually an American colony. Why would we want an American colony over there? That's been a failed proposition for the British in the last century, and is causing loss of lives and treasury for Americans. If there comes a time when we can no longer support these various wars around the world, where do the loyalties of Americans lie? With Israel or the US?
