I never smuggled any gold, but at one time there were very tight currency controls in France, and I rolled up some of those enormous colorful bills (I was getting paid in francs at the time) and put them under the liner in my shoe when I went to England. Of course no one bothered to ask anyone anything.

I do have a friend who was flying to England from Switzerland who cheerfully agreed to wear some diamond earrings that would be, she was told, "collected for the Princess" when she landed. She really believed she was just doing a friendly man a favor, and the funny part was that the guy who met her at the airport didn't seem to know anything about them. But I expect that someone would have got in touch with her if she had just kept the earrings. Probably she said in cheerful loud voice right in the airport, "I am wearing the earrings that you are giving to the Princess."

Funny thing is this woman thinks of herself as quite sophisticated and often gives me advice on all sorts of matters.

MB,
<<I miss my good old days of smuggling gold>>
"Cannons don't thunder,
There's nothing to plunder,
I'm an over 40 victim of fate"

And yes, I'm an old Parrothead<G>

The "Brick company" has treated me well with my PUTS.
