they fit into his formula for a revived left: a "commitment to social justice through collective action enriched by a commitment to individual freedom and local empowerment." Now that is a very Third Wayish idea. I rest my case. BTW, the term 'social justice' was first used by Pope Leo XIII in his great encyclical Rerum Novarum. Collective action (lefty catchphrase if there ever was one) implies government coercion. So much for his commitment to individual freedom.
