The job interview went well and in saying goodbye to the Suits, young Bill, as a last minute afterthought, asked them if there was anything else he could do for them. They responded halfheartedly, not unless he could find them a DOS like CP/M and fast. The next thirty seconds was Bill's a coup sur, or masterstroke. He responded that he might be able to find one and took their number.

no, The "suits" at IBM thought MSFT had an OS already, and that is why they set up a meeting..(MSFT wanted to sell them their version of basic interpreters, that is why MSFT was at the meeting).. when IBM said that they would license these basic interpreters, only if MSFT also licensed them an OS too.... that is when Paul Allen (not Bill Gates) said something like, give us a little time to come up with an OS and it is a deal..... (which shocked the "suits" since they thought that MSFT already had one)

Paul Allen knew of someone working on a copy of CP/M.... and out of nothing better to look for or do, offered to buy the rights to this derivative of CP/M....called QDos (quick and dirty OS)

Bill Gates just wanted to sell this OS to IBM for a quick profit along with selling or licensing the basic interpreters.... but these IBM suits didn't have the authorization or the power to want to buy anything that "expensive" for a quick experiment in a new market that apple was quickly proving even existed.....

so IBM talked MSFT into licensing it to them for a cut of any profits in this new market....

the real turn of events came when CPQ reverse engineered the IBM priority chips later, this caused a surge in a Market that MSFT nor IBM ever envisioned in their wildest dreams....

although they try and take credit for it latter..... like when Bill gates tries to take credit for getting to XEROX parc first... which has been proven untrue also.....
