Kash,

Re: "There are two other major technology partners driving a common process with
UMC and AMD {namely IBM and Infineon}."

News Flash: UMC is leaving the IBM "common process". This started with
SiLK -> Coral LowK "disaster".

Re: " ... the good news is that IBM is really doing the bleeding edge work."

The "Bad News" is that IBM really "blew it" with SiLK. This cost UMC
a lot of grief with their customers.

Make It So,
Yousef

RE:"Unfortunately this type of cooking up a leading edge process via multiple cooks has serious questions on its ability to ship on time.

Yes indeed...probably a lot to do with the lack of DT t-breds. One long established reason to FAb your own...remember what happens to fabless chipmakers....

RE:"(the good news is that IBM is really doing the bleeding edge work)."

So IBM has been teaching UMC? Oh brother...after IBM and Cyrix, I feel sorry for UMC and AMD...maybe they are good shorts...
