The Arabs know that, imo

As far as the Europeans leaning away from Israel, that's also partly due to rightists, including those in Germany since reunification, who rekidled fascist organizations in reaction to chaos. We dont' hear much about that here, but a lot over there. All you need are wandering 20-year olds with a chip on their shoulder, and they're fodder for demagogues, and there's millions of them, and the mainstream rightists gain ground. In 1992 Helmu Kohl even pandered to the right of his party:

"Republikaner chief Franz Schonhuber acknowledged that Kohl's stance on key issues had become 'precisely what our program called for.' Every rightward nudge from Kohl, in turn, lent additional credibility to hard-core neofascists and made their scapegoat arguments more acceptable. This insidious dynamic accentuated a climate of bigotry that was conducive to the schemes of demagogues and vioent neo-Nazi agitators. More pograms were inevitable"
