RE:"In terms of competitiveness, it will be great for AMD. In terms of margins, it probably won't make a difference. But in terms of total manufacturing capacity, AMD's potential wafers out will be reduced with any increase in the die size of their major products."

True...true...

So they get a shrink and give some back on die size. On the plus side they get more speed...which allows them to stay competitive with Intel mobile products...but like you said...perhaps not enough to increase margins. Maybe maintain them?

BTW, see how well we get along...

OTOH, you know we's all attempting to peeez up a rope when it comes to arguing about who's got the upper hand in chipz don't ya? All the AMD and Intel hype and new chips is wasted in a downturn like this...

I traded gold stocks for years...we are seeing a run like I haven't seen since '92. Either looking for big inflation and or a crumbling dollar...(or an attack...that's what it sez. Usually the lead is a year. I'm not so sure we've seen the cycle lows in these tech stocks either.
So even if Hammer gets a big intro...if could all be buffered by the general market. If you are waiting for Intel to make another 10 year run like 1990 to 2000 then ...oh well...
