re: "Why Europe and US don't see eye to eye"

I read an article a few years ago that said it goes far deeper, & suggested it may be related to the differences between those in the western & those in the eastern US. While the bulk of the US is of European extraction, those living here are the genetic result of the breeding of people willing to look over the next hill and those of self reliance. Europeans are the genetic result of those people who expect to have a government take care of their every need and or have little desire to try somewhere new & or something different. The author also cited three studies to support his theories. 1st the % of US citizens who remain with in 50 miles of their home town for life (as I recall) was 4X less than Europeans. 2nd Europeans were 2-3X more likely than their US counterpart to remain in the same business, religion, and political party as their parents. Per a survey 3-5X more US citizens than Europeans of every age group said they would be willing to colonize a new world in outer space even if it meant they would never be able to return home to earth.
