qwik, I think I said 12 to 18m but that's not really the point. the point is it WILL HAPPEN. A lot of things can delay that, for example, EGO, being the biggie. So, the inevitable can be delayed. But, I wouldn't be uncomfortable with a 1203 timetable. These things always take longer than they should. As for Intel, they just announced Mckinley right? They will never ABANDON that archetecture. Never. Will they improve it? Yes. But it may take more than two gens to get it right. I'm sorry, but we're stuck with Itanium. What's wrong with Itanium 2 Qwik? Or should I say, what does "The Register" think is wrong with it? <G>
