I really agree with you and wrote the previous message wrong.

The chat was about 64-bit vs 32 bit and X-86 sort of vs IA-86.

And I was voting strongly for the 64 part of the whole thing.

I think(and surely hope) the X86-64 is going to *DO* the desktops and that IA-64 may work in the server spaces. And that if the IA-64 doesn't make it in the server spaces X86-64 has about as much chance as anything else out there.

But If Intel gets Itanic X system price down to 2X X86-32 high end and get the performance on 32 bit stuff up to 75% of top flight X86-32 kit, they'll get the desktop too, imo.

But we'll see in a couple of years.
