I have tried to criticise him for remarks that were intentionally hurtful and way over the top, while at the same time leaving the issue open-ended and opposing generalized condemnations. Most people do miss the subleties in my posts--I have an obscure style...but CH probably did not. "But I guess it doesn't matter much." You brought up the question of protectiveness. I assumed that it mattered. "I think every time someone says I am friends with CH or part of his "group" I am being mistreated" Of course. I have always heard what you say. I have never confused you for positions you don't hold. "I think I am being mistreated when people bore me to death with a conflict that should have stayed between two rather strange people." Many think you are strange; many think I am. Being thought strange does not preclude the right to have conflicts, or to have support or opposition to your position. And they are not "strange" to everyone. Of course you are only speaking for yourself. "And to be honest I don't like it when people try to "help" me- they invariably get it wrong" I respect that. I have always left you to your competence even when you were being abused--and you have been mistreated on SI more than most. Any "help" I ever gave was simply an honest comment in an issue. I have never had to pretend to respect your opinion, and I never would. I respect all your opinions, and I agree with most of them... You seem to have a strong opinion on the CH/Poet controversy. You see to think that your opinion ought to take precedence over those opinions which differ. Your opinion is colored by all your relationships and biases--as well as your own experiences and mistreatments on SI. Unfortunately, if my opinions came from your experiences rather than my own...I would be a female lawyer/teacher with a husband. I don't want to be that. It is wonderful for you, but that is just you...
